First Outside Cylinder Casting Revealed

Following the casting of the first of the two Outside Cylinders last Wednesday evening, the casting has remained in the mould to cool until early this morning. The mould was opened and the sand broken away to reveal the casting.

The sand in the internal passage ways is removed by digging it out with a crowbar as shown in the picture above.

Underneath the casting can be seen the runners for the fluid metal to flow through into the part.

The casting is then cleaned by shot blasting as seen below, the first original Patriot Outside Cylinder cast for at least 60 years!

Following the sucessful casting the pattern for the second Outside Cylinder will now be finished and we expect the second cast to be done in May.
